A Moment of Permission

Some pieces arrive loudly.
This one arrived quietly.
This 12-inch round painting was created on wood using acrylics, built slowly in layers, and finished with intention. From the beginning, it was never about decoration. It was about a moment — one that exists outside of urgency, fear, or control.
At the center is a white raven.
For me, the white raven is not symbolic in a decorative sense. It is an alter presence — something instinctual, observant, and deeply familiar. In this moment, the raven is not captured, owned, or restrained. It is simply permitted to exist.
The figure holding the raven does not grip.
She offers a boundary, not possession.
Fire and moonlight share the space evenly — warmth and coolness, grounding and witness. Nothing threatens the scene. Nothing rushes it. The forest leans inward, not to close in, but to hold the moment steady.
That sense of safety mattered to me as I painted.
Perfect light. Perfect calm. Perfect permission.
Once the painting was complete, it was sealed with a professional-grade varnish to protect against yellowing and color loss, then finished with resin. The resin wasn’t added to make it glossy for the sake of shine — it was added to preserve depth, unify the surface, and give the piece a sense of permanence. It turns the painting into an object, not just an image. Something meant to last.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind work.
It stands as a reminder that power does not need to dominate, and love does not need to bind. Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones where nothing is demanded — only allowed.
