Art Styles - A for Abstract #1 in series - Shadow to Glow

Shadow to Glow — A for Abstract

Shadow to Glow marks the beginning of a new ongoing body of work exploring art styles alphabetically, starting with A for Abstract.

This piece was created on a 12" round wood panel using mixed media. I began with acrylic blacks and whites, allowing contrast and movement to emerge before introducing layers of oil pastels. The surface was then sealed in resin, locking the energy in place while adding depth and permanence.

An unexpected layer reveals itself under ultraviolet light — select elements glow, shifting the experience of the work from quiet darkness into subtle illumination. The UV reaction is not the focus, but an added dimension, echoing the theme of transformation rather than spectacle.

This project isn’t about mastering a style. It’s about listening to it.

Each letter invites a different conversation, a different discipline, a different way of seeing — starting here, where form, emotion, and intuition take precedence over rules.

Behind the Scenes

I shared a short behind-the-scenes glimpse of the process on YouTube, capturing moments of creation, movement, and reflection as this piece came together.

This series will continue to unfold one letter at a time.

Thank you for being here at the beginning.
